Delivery after dark
Most families heading south land in the evening and get to the villa late. No problem — delivery runs at any hour and the time of night costs nothing extra.
There are two ways to do it. The car meets you at airport arrivals and you drive about 45 minutes to Rawai or 55 minutes to Nai Harn. Or the car is already waiting at the villa and the group takes a taxi that first night. Either way, send the flight number and the meeting moves with the real landing time.
For a handover at the villa we need the location pin and the name on the booking. If the villa is behind a gate, a call to the owner or the guard before we arrive saves everyone ten minutes.
Rawai and Nai Harn ask different things of a big car
Rawai is flat. The residential streets make a grid, and the only catch is speed bumps, a lot of them unpainted — with a full load, go over them slowly.
Nai Harn sits in a bay behind the hills and both ways out of it climb. Heading north, the road to Kata past the Kata Noi viewpoint is narrow and winding. Seven people on board means a low gear going up and engine braking coming down. In rain or after dark, slower again.
No petrol station in Nai Harn itself, by the way. Fill up in Rawai on the way home rather than on the morning you need the car.
Seven people or the luggage, rarely both
Third row up, and a seven-seater has almost no boot. Seven people with light bags fit. Seven people with suitcases do not, so the airport run then needs a second car or a taxi for the bags.
Five or six with luggage is the sweet spot. Fold the third row, suitcases behind the second row, and everybody rides together.
And remember that a child seat takes a full place on the back row. Count the seats first, then the passengers.
A week in the south with a seven-seater
Rawai has a pier with boats to the nearby islands, and leaving the car there for the day is normal. The seafront has a long row of free parking that works all day and gets tight in the evening, when people come for the fish restaurants.
At Nai Harn beach there is a big free area under the trees. In high season it is full by midday, but along the lake there is almost always room, and a seven-seater fits there without fuss. Promthep Cape and Ya Nui are short drives from both districts, so the group does the south in a day and is back at the villa for dinner.

Child seats are on request when you book, matched to each child's age, weight and height. In high season the spare seats run out before the cars do, so put it in the first message rather than on the morning of delivery.
