Why do people choose a Vios in Phuket?

Mostly because it's familiar. Driveways, taxi ranks, ride-hailing apps: the Vios is all over Thailand, and plenty of visitors have already ridden in one. Simple, predictable, easy to place in traffic. That helps more than you'd think in your first days on the left.

It is also sensibly sized. Short enough for the lanes around Kata and Karon, long enough to have a proper boot behind a lid, and economical enough that fuel stays a small cost even over a month.

When to pick something else

Four adults with four large cases will not fit comfortably, and a steep, rough villa driveway is not kind to a low sedan's front bumper. On those trips we would put you in a crossover or, for a big family, a full-size SUV instead.

What that means on Phuket's roads

The Vios is an economy car, and the class handles every road on the island: the passes between the west coast bays, the winding road to Nai Harn, the climb to the Big Buddha.
