Car Rental at Phuket Airport
People pick a car up at the airport for one reason: to walk out of the terminal and drive off, with no taxi queue and no haggling over a transfer. We meet you at the exit with a sign, the paperwork takes a few minutes, and a child seat or a second driver can be arranged in advance. Returning the car at the airport works too, early departures included.

The airport is in the north of the island while the resort areas are in the middle and the south. Bang Tao is twenty-five minutes away, Patong about forty-five, Rawai an hour and a half.
The first few kilometres are the most unfamiliar part of the drive: traffic on the left, a dense flow, junctions without the markings you know. Take your time and make the first turns slowly.
Night arrivals are not a problem: we deliver the car at any hour and meet you at the exit. If you are flying with children, tell us in advance and we will fit seats for the right age.
For the return, allow an extra twenty minutes. There is one petrol station before the airport, and in the morning a queue of departing travellers builds up at it.
How the meeting works
You send us your flight number and we track its status. If the plane is delayed, we wait as long as it takes — that is part of the service and is not charged separately.
We meet you in the arrivals hall, at the exit. Then a short walk to the car in the car park, the inspection, signing the contract and photographing the condition — all together that usually takes no more than fifteen minutes.
If you are flying with children, order the seat in advance: we will fit it before you land so you do not spend time on it there.
СоветSend the flight number, not just the arrival time. We track the flight automatically, and once there is a delay the time on the ticket stops meaning anything.
What you need to collect the car
The main document is an international driving permit. A licence from your own country has no force in Thailand on its own: without the international permit your insurance will not work in an accident, and the police will write you a fine.
Besides the licence you need a passport and a way of leaving a deposit. We discuss the deposit terms in advance — there are options without cash, but they have to be agreed before you land rather than at the desk.
- An international driving permit, category B — essential
- The driver passport
- The flight number — so we can track delays
- A request for a child seat if you are flying with a child
Where to drive from the airport
The airport is in the north of the island, and the west coast is closest to it. Bang Tao is twenty-five minutes away, Surin and Kamala about half an hour, Nai Yang and Nai Thon fifteen to twenty.
Patong takes forty to forty-five minutes, Kata and Karon about an hour. The south of the island, Nai Harn and Rawai, is an hour and more.
The first exit from the airport car park goes round a loop with signs in English. After that the road is a good highway, and those first few kilometres are the calmest place to get used to driving on the left.
Your first minutes at the wheel in Thailand
Traffic drives on the left and the wheel is on the right. The most common mistake of the first few hours is switching on the wipers instead of the indicator: the stalks are mirrored from what you are used to.
Before setting off, spend a minute setting the mirrors and getting a feel for the size of the car. The airport car park is a better place for that than the highway.
Scooters ride between the lanes and overtake on both sides. Check your mirrors before every lane change, not only at junctions.
ВажноDo not pull straight out into traffic if you flew overnight and did not sleep. Ten minutes over a coffee in the terminal is cheaper than any incident on the highway.
Returning the car before your flight
We collect the car at the departures terminal at an agreed time. The inspection takes a few minutes, after which you go to check in.
Allow extra time for the drive: in the morning and the evening rush the road to the airport is busy, especially on the stretch through Thalang.
Fuel comes back at the same level as at handover. The nearest petrol stations are on the road to the airport, the last one about ten minutes before the terminal.
Частые вопросы
What happens if my flight is delayed?
We track the flight by its number and wait as long as it takes. There is no extra charge for waiting because of a delay.
Do I need an international driving permit?
Yes, it is essential. Without it your insurance does not apply in an accident, and the police issue a fine on a document check.
Can I return the car at the airport when I fly out?
Yes, we collect it at the departures terminal at an agreed time. We arrange that in advance so it does not clash with your check-in.
Do you have child seats?
Yes, but they need to be ordered in advance — then the seat is already fitted when you land.
How long to the beaches?
Bang Tao 25 minutes, Surin and Kamala about 30, Patong 40–45, Kata and Karon about an hour, Nai Harn and Rawai a little over an hour.
Can I pick the car up at night?
Yes, we meet flights around the clock. Night arrivals are routine for us, and there is no surcharge for the late hour.
