Fourteen days or fifteen: check where the price step changes

Our search prices a rental by its length, and each step of length has its own daily rate. Fourteen days sit in the 8–14 day step. Add one more day and the whole rental moves into the 15–21 day step, where the daily rate can be lower or higher.

So put both date ranges into the search and compare the totals. Sometimes the extra day costs almost nothing. Sometimes it doesn't.

The start date matters too. A rental that starts in November is counted from a lower base than one that starts in December or January, and May is low season. A price shown by the search holds for 30 minutes, so send it to us on WhatsApp soon after you see it. If your stay is closer to four weeks, look at renting for a month: a month has its own average rate.

Two weeks is enough for the island and a trip to the mainland

With a car for two weeks you are not counting days. There is time for the beaches of the west coast, Phuket Town, the viewpoints in the south, and one or two days off the island.

Driving to Krabi, Phang Nga or Surat Thani province costs nothing extra, and the included insurance applies there. Other directions are agreed in chat before you go, and some of them need additional cover. A car ferry, to Ko Lanta for example, needs written consent from the rental, with the route named in advance. Details are in can I drive to Krabi or Khao Lak.

Delivery, return and changing the dates

We bring the car to your hotel, villa, apartment or the arrivals exit at the airport, at any hour, night flights included. Delivery is counted separately from the daily rate; the sum for your address is named in the chat. On the last day you can hand the car back in another area or at the departure terminal.

Plans change over two weeks. To move or extend the dates, write in the same chat, and the earlier you write, the easier it is. Extra days can push the rental into the next price step, so ask for the new total.

Deposit, fuel and what happens at the return

The deposit is refundable and separate from the rental price: from 5,000 ฿ for most economy cars, up to 30,000 ฿ for the most expensive electric car. It depends on the model, not on how long you keep the car. Cash is left at handover; a non-cash deposit is agreed in chat before delivery.

The fuel level is written down at handover, and the car goes back with the same level. A wash costs 300 ฿ if the car comes back dirty. Cash comes back at the return inspection; a hold on a card is released by your bank and can take several days. What to send in your request

One message is enough to get a total for two weeks:

• Your dates, with pick-up and return times.
• Where the car should meet you: hotel, villa or the airport.
• A class, or a model from the table on this page.
• Whether someone else will drive: a second driver is added in advance with the same documents.
• Any mainland trip you have in mind.

Documents

Every driver needs a passport, a national driving licence and an International Driving Permit. First-class commercial insurance is included in the rental, and damage to third parties is covered up to 800,000 ฿.

Rental terms

• Deposit: refundable and separate from the rental price, from 5,000 ฿ for most economy cars and up to 30,000 ฿ for the most expensive electric car. Left in cash at handover; a non-cash option is agreed in the chat before delivery.
• Insurance: first-class commercial insurance is included, a policy for commercial use, so the insurer accepts a claim on a rented car. Damage to third parties is covered up to 800,000 ฿; a copy of the policy on request.
• Documents: a passport, a national driving licence and an International Driving Permit for everyone named in the contract. Licences from ASEAN countries follow a different rule: name the country of issue when you book and we confirm in the chat.
• Age: 21 with a year of driving; premium cars and large SUVs from 23.
• Delivery: to your hotel, villa or the airport exit at any hour, night flights included. It is counted separately from the daily rate; the sum for your address is named in the chat.
