Yes for Koh Lanta: Kolesio lets a rental car go on the ferry once the crossing is agreed with you on WhatsApp before the trip and written into the agreement. Lanta is in Krabi province, so leaving Phuket costs no surcharge, the first-class commercial insurance stays in force, and the refundable deposit is the one set for your model, from 5,000 ฿. For Koh Yao Noi the car does not cross at all: you leave it in the car park at Bang Rong pier on Phuket and take the boat.

Which Phuket car rental companies allow ferry crossings to Koh Lanta?
Kolesio does, on one condition: the crossing is agreed in writing before you set off. Write on WhatsApp with the island, the days you will spend there and the number of drivers. The reply names the car, the total for your dates, the deposit and the delivery cost, and the crossing goes into the agreement before the car is delivered.
The drive is about 250 kilometres and around four and a half hours to Ban Hua Hin pier. One short ferry takes cars to Ko Lanta Noi, and the Siri Lanta bridge carries on to Ko Lanta Yai, so there is no second crossing. Any class handles the surfaced road to the pier; the south of Lanta, with short steep climbs and broken tarmac, is easier in a crossover than in a low saloon. Every car we deliver is an automatic, which helps in a queue that creeps forward a few metres at a time.
Does my Phuket rental car insurance cover ferry crossings?
Yes, when the crossing is in your agreement. Our cars carry first-class commercial insurance, a code 120 policy for commercial use, which stays in force in Krabi and Phang Nga provinces and covers damage to third parties up to 800,000 ฿. A crossing made without our written consent breaks the agreement, and then the insurer can refuse the claim.
Damage you cause is handled on Lanta as on Phuket: after an at-fault accident part of the deposit is held, from 5,000 ฿ depending on the model and the damage. Most scrapes happen on the ramp, so drive on at walking pace, wheel straight, and park where the deck crew points. The cover applies only to drivers named in the agreement with a passport, a national licence and an International Driving Permit.
What time is the last car ferry to Koh Lanta, and how much does it cost?
We do not quote ferry fares or timetables: the operator sets both and changes them with the season and the weather. The car ticket is bought at the pier on the day, boats leave when the deck is full, and there is nothing to book ahead.
Plan the road instead. Allow four and a half hours to the pier plus the queue, which grows in high season and on Thai holidays. Missing the last boat back means a night on Lanta and an extra rental day, so leave a margin on the return and message us if the dates move. An open deck also leaves salt on the body, and a car returned dirty carries a 300 ฿ washing fee, so a car wash on the way home costs less.
Can I take a car to Koh Yao Noi as well as Koh Yao Yai?
Not as a planned route. For Koh Yao Noi the car stays on Phuket: you drive to Bang Rong pier in the north-east of the island and take a longtail or speedboat to Manoh pier, and on the island people get about by scooter or local pickup taxi. Nothing leaves Phuket, so no crossing needs agreeing.
Koh Yao Yai is not on our list of agreed destinations for a rental car. If you need the car there, ask before you book and we will tell you whether the crossing can go into the agreement for your dates.
Where can I park my rental car in Phuket before taking a boat to Koh Yao Noi?
At Bang Rong pier, in the car park for people crossing for the day or longer. It is usually paid in cash, so bring small notes. Spaces near the water go with the first boats, and by midday only the far rows are left, so arrive half an hour before your boat.
Staying overnight? Tell the attendant how long the car will stand and park nearer the exit, in shade if you can, with the windows closed and bags out of sight. Fill up on road 402 or in Pa Khlok: the pier has no fuel station.
